The secret key required to encrypt and decrypt data is stored only on the key and never on the hard drive installed in the enclosure of the host system; this eliminates back door access to your secret key and prevents hackers from stealing your data. Without the secret key stored in the Secure Token, a protected disk drive cannot be booted or accessed in any way. With IMPACT enclosures encryption speed is never an issue. Regardless of the amount of data stored or accessed, the chipset encrypts the entire hard drive at 1.6 Gigabits per second or faster to deliver real-time performance for all IDE compatible hard drives; this means that encryption and decryption operations are imperceptible.
