The JR170 operates on a 900 mHz radio frequency band. The system consists of a high quality, battery-operated stereophone, RF transmitter and AC adapter. Utilizing a radio signal, the JR170 allows listeners to move freely from room to room, even outdoors without the need for additional transmitters or experiencing a signal break. The signal can be transmitted through walls, ceilings and floors and is not affected by bright sunlight. Listeners can roam freely over 150 linear feet.

The JR170 incorporates a two channel stereo synthesized operation in its transmitter that utilizes a microprocessor to automatically lock to one or two selected transmitter channels in the event of potential signal interference. The transmitter connects easily to most home theater systems and PCs through the headphone jack (3.5mm) or RCA audio outputs.

Neodymium iron boron magnet structures and oxygen-free copper voice coils in the stereophone element, deliver a clear signal transmission, and wide frequency response of 20-18,000 Hz. Closed ear cushions isolate the listener from ambient noise, while retaining the bass frequencies. Operating on 2 "AA"batteries, the stereophone will provide approximately 25 hours of uninterrupted use. A volume control on the earcup allows for easy level adjustment.
